Hello, I’m Olivia

I am a qualified MBACP-registered humanistic psychotherapeutic counsellor offering online and in-person therapy sessions in Putney, Richmond and Wimbledon, South West London.

I believe that every individual has the capacity for personal growth, acceptance, and autonomy, and I strive to facilitate this process through empathic and compassionate presence.  Through my warmth, curiosity, and ability to sit in the unknown, I aim to meet you where you are today with a view to support you to reach where you want to be.

My approach

I offer my clients a confidential and respectful environment to explore and develop self-awareness, healing and self-responsibility, which can help you lead a more fulfilling life that aligns with your belief system. I will work with you to bring awareness and understanding to your unique experience with the world around you.  It could be the case that you are feeling disconnected in your relationships, either with your self or with others. You may feel life is “off” but you don’t know why. You may be experiencing low mood or anxiety, or a desire to understand your identity better. Exploring these in the presence of another person can deepen your understanding and support you to make the changes you wish to see.  By bringing light to these areas in a collaborative, warm, empathic way, I believe positive change can arise.

I work relationally, which means that I draw on the relationship that we create together in the therapy room.  This is effective in bringing awareness to relational patterns that you may be repeating outside of the therapy room. With this awareness, my hope is that you’ll feel equipped to make the changes you feel beneficial. Equally, my work is underpinned by three humanistic theoretical frameworks: Person Centred, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis. This means that my work integrates different approaches to help me tailor the therapy to you and your needs. At the centre of my work is the philosophy that you are the expert of your own experience and you are a whole person rather than isolated problems or parts.

My role is not to direct you, but to create a safe, supportive environment where you can explore your feelings and experiences openly and without judgment.

At the core of my humanistic philosophy is the belief that clients are the experts of themselves and with warmth, curiosity and acceptance clients can explore and better understand their full selves. Having a foundation with these frameworks allows me to holistically shape the therapy to the individual needs of each of my clients. Together, we can work to develop your self-awareness, explore repetitive patterns or relationships and explore what is causing you distress, in a safe and confidential space.

I am committed to recognising and challenging the systemic power imbalances that can affect our lives. I believe that social and cultural norms can often reinforce oppressive structures, leading to marginalisation, discrimination, and inequality.  I prioritise creating a therapeutic environment that is inclusive, diverse, and respectful of all individuals, regardless of their background, identity, or experiences.

Experience

I have extensive professional experience working in a variety of environments and with a diverse range of individuals. Currently, in addition to working in private practice, I work at a low cost psychotherapy service that provides counselling to individuals in the London Borough of Ealing.

I hold a postgraduate diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counselling from the Metanoia Institute in London. I hold an undergraduate degree in Philosophy from the University of Leeds.

I am a registered member of BACP, I am a trainee member of UKCP and I am a member of the Metanoia Institute.  I abide by all of their ethical codes.  I receive regular clinical supervision to support my practice and to ensure I am working safely and ethically.

I am committed to completing Continuous Professional Development to enhance my skills and knowledge. I am currently working towards my final MSc qualification as a humanistic psychotherapist at the Metanoia Institute.

Get in touch

If you are interested in working together, I offer a free 20-minute call on Google Meet where you can ask any questions you may have and gain an understanding of how we might work together.  For me, the therapeutic relationship forms an integral part of the work so it is important that you feel I am the right therapist for you.  If I am not, I am happy to point you towards some resources where you might continue your search.

In the first few sessions we can explore any questions you might have about the therapy process and we will get to know one another.  I am led by you as the expert of your own experience and will offer you an honest and open space to explore what might be challenging you.

I offer in-person and online therapy sessions. My in-person therapy sessions are held in East Putney, Richmond, and Wimbledon in South West London, areas that are accessible by the District tube line and a national rail train station.  My online sessions are held securely via Google Meet.

I offer a sliding payment scale, between £70 – £90 per 50 minute session, as I recognise that the financial commitment can often be a barrier to accessing therapy.  Your fee is dependent on what you feel you can afford and this is something that we can discuss in our introductory call or our first session.

I also have a limited number of low-cost sessions for those on income support or low incomes. These sessions are currently full, however I will update on my website when spaces become available.

I offer a pay it forward model where you could sponsor a space for an individual to have weekly therapy sessions. If you are interested please get in contact with me to discuss it further.
